HOW TO INSTALL/AQUIRE XMPP

PART 1 - account & programs

  1. Make a domain account

    2. Jit.si - jit.si register - Gajim.org - Gajim Register - Jabber.org - Jabber registry

    *you dont have to sign up for either Gajim or Jitsi, they are both just examples for more options ~ xmpp.net*

    you may Regsiter with any username that is not taken.

  2. Get a XMPP chat Client

    3. *Again you dont have to use either of the clients if you dont want to*

    Pidgin-Pidgin or Gajim-Gajim Client

    For Apple devices (iOS) - talkonaut And for Android - xabber

PART 2 - setting up your account

+skip to step C. if you already have the add account window open+

  1. Install Client(obviously)

  2. Open Buddy List(if not already opened)

    3. A. Goto Accounts - Manage Accounts and it will open a new window

    B. At the new Window Click add and another new window will open

    C. Change Protocol to XMPPand Input information as following the example picture below

    ***Note that the Domain is the account you made at the start of the tutorial

    + For Example:If you registered with Jitsi.org then Domain = Jitsi.org or if you did Gajim.org the Domain = Gajim.org

    ***Also you do not need to add ANY resource***

     account setup

D. You are now Finished and can add friends to chat with like me :D ( go to bottom of page for friends to add ;)

You do not need to install Gajim if you already have pidgin installed.This is just for people who installed Gajim instead.

~in general its the same way just different look~

*side note, i have multiple accounts registered so thats why you see so many contacts x.x*

  1. Goto Edit - Accounts and a new window will pop up

  2. Click Add and choose the option I already have an account i want to use and click forward

  3. A new GUI will pop up and you enter information as usual

  4. You are finished :D
